Computational Materials Science Lab

Texas A&M University College of Engineering

SMA Workshop, Istanbul Turkey

The Special Workshop on SMAs (June 19th-24th, 2010)

The goal of this workshop was “to bring the SMA research community together to share the recent developments in the field, evolving topics, and opportunities. More importantly, the workshop aims at creating a vivid discussion forum to analyze what we, as the research community, can/should do in the scientific fundamentals – basic engineering level to bring about the next revolution in SMAs, as in the case of invention of superelasticity and cyclic stability in NiTi in early 80s, for their accelerated insertion into existing and new fields of applications from actuation to damping and from energy harvesting to transmission in energy, infrastructure, automotive, aerospace, and consumer products markets.”
